Here at Global Village we’d like to say welcome back for 2015. This is going to be an exciting year for New Zealand economy in general, and in particular in the Construction industry.
Global Village started out to specialise in search recruitment in the infrastructure sector in New Zealand and we retained our focus over the last seven years. For our organisation the next decade is likely to be prosperous and also very challenging with human resource in the infrastructure sector being very scarce, mainly due to the investment in the sector and a number of major projects underway or coming on stream.
We know that in the Lower North Island McKay to Peka Peka and Transmission Gully have sucked a large amount of skilled labour out of the market, in the Central North Rangiriri, Huntly By-Pass and Cambridge to Tamihere will also demand a large labour pool. Auckland has a major… infrastructure rebuild with Waterview Connection, AMETI, Kirkbride Road, Albany Highway projects, and this is to just name a few that also demand skilled labour.
The government will invest more than $36 billion in the land transport system over the next decade via the National Land Transport Fund. $19.5 billion in State highways and $12.5 billion in subsidies for regional and local roads and public transport. Their objectives are to complete the first set of Roads of National Significance (RoNS), drive greater performance and value for money from the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), and to continue to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide from land transport overtime.
Our clients will need to focus on their recruitment strategies during this period, ensuring that they have the best talent sourcing plans, good retention strategies and up to date market information on remuneration and incentives offered. At Global Village we do our very best to ensure that we are getting the right information on all these issues and we gladly share it to help our customers as part of our recruitment offering.
So as you can imagine 2015 has got off to a flying start, with a number of our top contractors needing to find senior talent due to the large number of projects getting green lights. Across the country we are currently recruiting Senior Maintenance Contract Managers. These contracts are multi year multi million dollar contracts. In the Upper North Island we are working with key customers on sizeable roading projects that require Project Managers, Supervisors both Construction and Drainage. In addition, for one of our premier international clients, we will require Commercial Managers across a variety of offshore locations as well as a Senior Bid Manager and 2 Heavy Civil Estimators.
With the enabling works underway on Auckland’s CRL project we are also very interested in hearing from candidates that have tunneling qualifications and experience.
We would like to chat with all highly skilled construction professionals that would be looking for new and interesting opportunities in 2015, and we invite you to keep up with our current opportunities through our website and LinkedIn.
We wish you good luck for the start of this year and we hope you are as excited as we are with all the promising prospects that lay ahead.
